What is twilight cruising?
Twilight cruising is a social event suitable for experienced or novice sailors. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your time on board. The event will take approximately 3 hours and you will return to the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, via the King Pier Marina with a dinner of local fish and chips.

About the Whistler
The boat
Whistler is an Andy Dovell designed racing yacht from Australian naval architects Murray Burns Dovell. Her dimensions are 11 meters overall length, 9.46 waterline length, 3.49 meters beam. She draws 2.31 meters and displaces 4033 kilograms. She is rigged as a Bermudian Sloop with a 7/8 rig. Whistler was built in Castle Forbes Bay, Tasmania by boat builder Rob Goode and was launched in 2000.

The skipper - David Rees
David Rees is a Member of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and is a two time world champion sailor and America’s Cup team member [Australia II & Kookaburra].
David has competed in the top levels of sailing internationally and in Australia in a range of sailing classes. His experience includes 14 Sydney – Hobart races including a second place overall. He was skipper of the Whistler for the 2006 Sydney – Hobart and was the fastest boat under 11 meters. David sailed on the line honours winner of the 2004 Melbourne – Hobart and led Whistler to 2nd place in the 2007 Melbourne – Hobart and 1st place in the 2009 Launceston – Hobart series.
David skippered the Whistler to 1st place in the Tasmanian Three Peaks Yacht Race in 2010 and came 3rd in the British Three Peaks race 2010 and 2011. David & his crew also won the Tilman Trophy for best overall performance in the 2011 British Three Peaks Race.
