International Red Cross missions for Australasian specialists The international Red Cross movement has a need for Australian and New Zealand specialist doctors to join their existing talent pool to assist its humanitarian missions during times of world conflict and disaster. Missions vary from 2-3 weeks in disaster response scenarios, to three months and, occasionally, up to two years. However, interested specialist should be prepared to make themselves available for a period of at least three months for each mission. All missions are salaried positions, subsistence allowance and accommodation will be provided. The Australian Red Cross is a major contributor to the worldwide movement of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). ICRC maintains or supports several hospitals in regions affected by war or other conflict, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa.
