Specialist medical recruitment firm makes BRW's 2010 Top 50 Best Places to Work list
Specialist medical recruitment company Wavelength International is one of the best companies in Australia to work for. It's just been named number 30 on BRW's 2010 Top 50 Great Places to Work list -one of just a handful of small businesses, and the only medical recruitment firm to make the list.
BRW's Top 50 Best Places to Work list was based on research conducted by the Great Place to Work Institute Australia, with almost 17,000 employees from 160 companies surveyed.
Dr John Bethell, one of the founders of Wavelength International, calls the award "an outstanding result in a challenging economic environment".
"To have received such an accolade is an honour, particularly as it is largely bestowed upon us through the testimony of our own staff," Dr Bethell says.

Drawing upon industry insights gained through the research, we are able to provide a comprehensive summary of hiring healthcare trends currently impacting your state and organisation. Below please find a full report for your information.
As a brief overview, during the first quarter of FY2009/2010, overall economic conditions remained positive across the healthcare industry in the Australian and New Zealand regions, meaning that expectations on improving healthcare facilities continue alongside the requirements for a stable workforce and the continued need for a broad spectrum of healthcare staff. Faster permanent residence applications for healthcare professionals from 23rd September 09
From 23 September, the Department of Immigration has reworked its priority processing arrangements. Previously, state/territory sponsored applicants were of second highest priority on the list. This led to some unexpected distortion in processing times, as an unprecedentedly large volume of state/territory sponsorship applications were lodged. As a result, applicants whose occupations were on the Critical Skills List but did not have state/territory sponsorship were taking longer than expected to be processed.
The 23 September changes should correct this distortion and applicants who nominated critical skills list occupations should experience faster processing as a result. A large number of professional healthcare occupations are on the Critical Skills List.
From 23 September existing and new permanent residence applications will be dealt with in the following order:
1. ENS and RMS (employer sponsored)
2. State/Territory Nominated and on CSL
3. Family sponsored and on CSL
4. CSL
5. State/Territory Nominated and not on CSL
6. MODL
7. Family sponsored and not on CSL
8. All other applications
