Wavelength International is a specialist locum recruitment agency. We are experts in placing healthcare professionals in locums of all types and at all levels, locally, interstate and internationally.

If you need the time and earning potential to study for exams, would like to travel and work in exotic locations or build some capital or pay off debts, locum work is a great option. We work in Australia and New Zealand, and occasionally further afield. The duration of positions range from a few days to a few months.

The Wavelength Difference

Our Locum Division prides itself on providing a high quality of service to our candidates and employers.

We are:

  • Proactive, not Reactive - we work into the future so we often fill locum roles well before other agencies are aware of them. You benefit from this early warning and can plan you own schedule months ahead.
  • Clear about Work Conditions - document terms are agreed before the locum is confirmed. All parties read and sign these terms to ensure that there is no ambiguity, which greatly reduces the risk of misunderstanding before, during and after the locum.
  • Thorough - we verify that you have the appropriate skills for the locums that we place you in -we do not want to put you at risk, nor do we want our client to run an unsafe service. See Candidate Terms for more information.
  • Loyal – we form great relationships with our locum candidates and do our best to keep you employed when you need to be. We repay your loyalty by rewarding you for working with us regularly.

Important News for Locums working in NSW

On 18th August 2008, NSW Health announced the implementation of a state-wide system to better manage medical locums and the casual medical vacancies in hospitals.

This will require that agencies, such as Wavelength International, providing locum Medical Officers to NSW hospitals will be required meet the NSW Health Standards and Conditions.

The rationale behind this is to bring locum doctors in line with permanent employees of NSW Health in terms of standards of employment scrutiny and safe work practice.

By 13th October 2008, all locum doctors, wishing to locum in any public New South Wales hospital must comply with the NSW Health credentialing criteria.

Some examples of changes that may affect you will include:

• Requirement to provide certified copies of some documents
• Demonstration of skills appropriate to the locum role proposed
• Permission from your full time employer to locum
• Declaration that you have read certain documents (such as NSW Health Code of Conduct)
• Provision of at least three references
• Evidence of training in Mandatory Child Protection, Electronic Records Management etc
• Presentation of original documents and ID on commencement of the locum

Wavelength supports NSW Health efforts to raise standards amongst the locum workforce and we will be working hard to ensure that our business and all our candidates are compliant.

We appreciate that this will create a degree of inconvenience for you and we will do what we can to make sure that your applications are compliant by the 13th October deadline.

For further details on the Standards and Conditions please call one of our consultants to discuss what this means for you. Alternatively visit the NSW Health website for more details.
